About Us

The project is managed by Designers for Learning, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the US. We coordinate volunteer service-learning opportunities with those who seek to gain experience creating instruction and other types of performance improvement solutions for nonprofits and other social causes. The open educational resources shared on this website were created by volunteers contributing on service projects facilitated by Designers for Learning. Unless otherwise noted, content on this website is licensed by Designers for Learning under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

Why this project?

As a US domiciled nonprofit with a charitable mission, Designers for Learning is motivated to support the over 30 million US adults without high school credentials. As outlined in data presented in this overview, publicly funded US adult education programs only serve 2 million people and receive only 10% of the public funding made available to K12 education. In addition, recent changes to College and Career Readiness (CCR) standards and high school equivalency tests have resulted in the need for enhanced educational approaches to prepare adult learners who are striving to meet the new standards and testing requirements. While we have a US-centric focus on this project, support for adult education is a need around the globe.
